// Where's Pocket Library?

Pocket Library is undergoing a radical change. In a short time, it will be reborn as an open source project.

What does this mean, especially for loyal users who have paid for a license to unlock the desktop version? Hopefully, it means good things for everyone. As long time users know, the project has been mostly stagnant for about two years. There is still so much more that could be done with it, but the project has been stymied for some time because of:

The registration fee was never intended to make anybody rich, but was intended to help offset the cost in tools and hosting required to develop and support Pocket Library. Unfortunately it never really did.

Shortly, a new version of Pocket Library will go up on the software download sites that requires no registration key, but will be missing the features the key made available. Not long after that, an open source version will be made available with an option to become a contributor to the project.

Hopefully this will make it possible to keep the project alive and port it to new platforms like Windows Mobile, Linux and Mac OS X (via Mono) and the web.
